April 4, 2005, Mt. Baker Ski Area

Mondays are always nice at any ski area, I really forgot what it was like to have the place to myself. The snow was nice with about 5 inches fresh over the groomers and much deeper in the untracked trees and some areas leading into the Canyon. A good powder day for April. Interesting how the snow on Pan Dome was much heavier and wetter than on the Hemispheres side. Snow conditions varied from fairly light and fluffy on the upper half of chair 8 to shallow corn-like snow at the bottom of the lift when the sun came out.

I was suprised at how fast the snow was. I've been up to baker every week for the past 4 weeks.....and this day was sweet. It was a ghost town up there. Did everyone have to go to work .....or did they not see it coming?
