July 30, 2012, Mt Daniel (another one!)

Made it up to Daniel for the first time on Monday and had the mountain almost to myself, saw one other party of two up there. The views were wonderful from the top and the skiing - pretty hard to complain about it! I left the house in Olympia around 3:30am, but still didn't make it to Peggy's Pond while the snow was firm enough to skin the steep portions of the climb - so boot pack it was. (You can still put skis on at the pond...) By 1pm things were getting pretty mushy. Other than carrying my skis for longer than I'd like to in one day, its still great up there! Runnels and sun cups are only just starting to get bad and only down low. Pictures give a better idea of coverage.

And, bugs! I must be a magnet for them because I thought they were going to carry me away there were so many! They must have hatched in the last few days...
