Not a backcountry or lift served report, so here it is.
After attending a very cool star party Saturday night, my 11yo daughter put down about 3K of steps for turns on the Palmer snowfield Sunday.
She carried a pair of ~160cm Salomon Pocket Rockets with Naxo bindings on a day pack of mine that we really couldn't get tight enough to put the skis up on her shoulders. I carried both our boots and my signature rig on my expedition pack.
We could have skinned from just above the lodge, but I like the White River ridge, where you're away from the public operations until reaching the Palmer top bench. Its boots on dirt the whole way right now.
I expected a short trip, but we took lots of 'water appreciation breaks' - her term, and she just kept trudging. Nice turns on tracked afternoon corn.
45 months for me. She needs the next three months to make a year.
Cheers.

Very Cool.
She'll make it a year for sure.
