the ridge extending south from the lower part of Lassen pk has a nice semi-permanent 'patch'. it offers 300 vert. The first 100 has a pitch, and the bottom part is good for bustin' out some slalom turns. Of course, that's if you're skiin' on Salomon 'sno-blades'. but, I don't consider myself a 'carver'. keep on t-a-y'n
