July 1, Stevens Pass deep...
« on: 07/01/12, 04:59 PM »

Month 177 in the bag, and only 90 minutes from the front door! Away from ythe car by 7 AM, and got onto snow at 4225'. I also heard the machinery clearing snow away for the mountain biking; they've got some work ahead of them. 90 minutes up to top of 7th Heaven for the first run, down to the flattening area below, and then back up to the top of Cowboy Mtn. ridge. Looked for safe descent of a chute, but could not find any. Trees and/or cliffs blocked the way. So, back to the north end of the ridge for run #2, and back to the car by 10 AM. There is still over 6 feet of the goods in many parts of the bowl; GO GET IT!!! I can't remember this much snow in July at Stevens. Anybody else?

On the 4th of July in 1999 my dad, brother and I were able to ski from Cowboy down to the groomer machine shed on nice continuous snow.

Way to celebrate Independence!  I think I've skied 3 times on the 4th; my wife and I had some fine turns at Crater Lake in 2010.
Nice first post and welcome to TAY   Cool
