June24th Crystal
« on: 06/24/12, 08:37 PM »

Rainy morning in GW turned into a foggy but dry Crystal but the power of positive thoughts and unyielding optimism was stong in our group and was rewarded by the Crystal Sucker Hole forming and visibility turning to excellent.

Green Valley was skied by every permutation possible and the Alpenho's were again charging and showing up the Crustalians. Frozen in the morning turned to nice skiing conditions.

Tiring of hamsterism, we took a run in the Park that skied beautifully followed by an adventure skin out that was unliked by some due to steep sidehilling on slushy breakaway and bare patch through skinning.

Beers on the patio at the Summit House watching Sunrise atmospherically emerge from the clouds while a thought was given for the the fallen Climbing Ranger. RIP.

Thanks for the report...was wondering...but I was to lazy Sunday morning to find out first hand...and the GV cam is pretty worthless for any info about what the Valley might look like (can only point it at Rainer currently and my email response from Crystal office about any other views was not really answered - just that it was a totally nasty bad weekend all in all and skiing in a foggy white probably would not have been fun and apparently no one is around that knows how to point that cam in anyother direction (my opinion) - Gold Hills cam looked somewhat positive which made me sad for my lazy attitude during the afternoon....Glad you had fun, glad I had an okay fun day...dang...

Last weekend next week....you can't miss that.
It's been a looooong season.

Still plenty of touring left but I'm going to miss the vertical.
Love to tour but  touring only gives me 5-6 k per day and always leaves me wanting more turns. Cry

Anyhooo......only about 150 days until the lifts are running again. I'm already counting down the days.

Been planing on at least one more day of lift served skiing, finally checked Crystal web site today and looks like the 4th will not be an option (I'll probably be out in the woods anyway)...so hopefully weather will be nice enough for a last lift served fling...at least if nothing else Sunday.
