June 20, 2012, Silver peak

Eight cars already at the trailhead at 11am.  Saw Roy McMurtry (age 84) headed out after spending the night.  Zap and Jill too.  1-2" corn mush on west facing slopes.  Breeze keeping us cool. Our group carpooled to help minimize everyone's walk to snow. Nice views.

Back at the car I met joker headed up, moved my car 1/4 mile further uphill, thanks to solar melting and snowmobiler monster trucks.  We did a backside run before joining the festivities in the chilly breeze waiting to ski down at sunset, while watching a very skilled sledhead highmark all the way to the steep rock north face of Silver (above Carla's red hat and green jacket) wow!  Then shred and snoholic showed up with beer, brats, and bbq grill so it was time for dinner before a  ski down in the darkness to the Subaru suites for the night at 11pm.

That was a blast. Great party at the top - nice to meet you all! The evening skiing was quite nice - carvable corn.

Had a killer time out yesterday. Didn't get to meet anyone but there were quite a few folks up in the bowl. I ended up putting in two laps up to the true summit then descended off the east ridge via a nice steep little col.

Shot up there after work with Alta Snob for a summit and twilight ski out.  Still laughing about Silas's verbal ques regarding skiing in the dark; I'm glad to know I'm not the only loon-bin on the hills. Good times.

How come I am always in the same place as Silas but I never see him?

Funny.  I only ever make it out a couple times a year (maybe) and I always seem to bump into him.  I just assume that he is everywhere.

Festive evening for sure, we had a few people show up a couple miles away.

Nice!  Saw your tracks and wondered who did it.  Fun video!
