- the southern Cascades have great conditions. in particular, Lassen park opened the road through the park this wk. last wk, it snowed 6". this wk, that snow melted and conditions were superb. but, winter aint done - with another strong low forecasted on Monday. (so much for a lousy winter down this way). &, Shasta's east-side trailhead roads are almost all open - the corn should be pretty ripe.
