Nothing particularly exciting to report.  The road was clear nearly to the trailhead (a half mile?).  Hiked up the trail about a mile before putting on skis.  Perhaps the main thing to report is that we found a lost rope on the way back down.  Send an e-mail with a quick description if it is yours.

We didn't think to pick up backcountry camping permits, so we had to camp just before the park boundary at 4700 rather than our original plan to camp at the notch.  Perhaps the kindly ranger patroling up there over the weekend would have cut us some slack, but we were not eager to climb the extra 1000 feet and then be sent back down.

By Monday morning, it didn't really matter.  Based on the forecast we expected colder temperatures and refrozen snow.  Instead, it rained so hard overnight that the snow was about a foot of mush and degrading quickly.  After seeing the slopes littered with wet slide remains on the other side of the notch, we decided to strip the skins, ski the trees, and call it an early weekend.  Oh well.
