- great conditions down at Mt Lassen. 6" of wet snow provided for perfect conditions! the Park road recently opened with about 5 - 8 ft of snowpack. May was fairly cool, so significant melting hasn't started yet. Sunday had a general cloud cap on the upper 1,000 ft of the mtn. I overheard a guy say the visibilty was poor. yesterday was clear skies, with increasing lower level cumulus clouds by noontime - eventually turning into another cloud cap. I always enjoy driving through the pines, as compared to the arid Eastside (Sierras).
