May 18, 2012, MSH Corn Harvest on 32 Anniversary

MSH was in great shape on Friday, the 32nd Anniversary of the 1980 eruption. The hotter weather last weekend has nicely consolidated the snowpack and the cooler temps on Friday kept the snow in perfect condition.
There is no longer snow at Marble Mountain with a .75 mile hike to contiguous snow. This has the benefit of no snowmobiles at Marble Mountain although we did find snowmobile tracks higher on Worms Flow.
We left the cars at 8am. Dima and I arrived at the summit rim at 12:15, while rando racer Jerimy arrived earlier. Jerimy and Dima, having flown across the country for their volcano tour (they have now skied from the summits of Hood, Rainier, MSH, and likely Adams today) wanted to be sure we reached the summit proper, so once on the rim we traveled west to find the highest point on the rim. We used GPS and altimeter to determine the highest point trying to decide between two spots one that Jerimys Magellan w/ USGS topos showed as the summit proper and one that my Garmin w/
