Brother Ross and I hit Hurricane Hill in very nice conditions. This tour is not particularly turn oriented, but an interesting route among beautiful scenery. What turns we had were very nicean inch or two of corn on a firm base.
We left the parking lot late morning and were nearly nailed by a high-arching volley from the snow-clearing machine. They just started clearing the road toward Hurricane Hill parking lot but they got so little done while we were there that it should take them a long time to get there, if thats their goal. The walls of the trench are about ten feet tall. It should be easy enough to parallel the road for a while.
There is a short carry section just after the lower, buried parking lot. It can be skirted on the left with a long traverse on a steep slope, but we both thought it was more pleasant and interesting to go over the top. Lots of snow once youre on the ridge, with a number of cornices still worthy of respect.
We both had fishscale skis, with a little help from kickers in the last steep section. A great roly-poly tour for waxless bases.
