April 28-29, Silver Basin, Family winter campout
« on: 05/01/12, 09:56 PM »

Did a somewhat ambitious adventure this past weekend with the whole family.  Used every available pack I have to outfit the family for a night in the cold, and on/in the snow.  Headed to Crystal and used the lifts to get into Cambell Basin then skied TLC over to the bottom of the Silver Basin cat track where we booted up a ways and found a suitable camp spot away from the track.  Skied the resort Saturday afternoon after establishing camp (not great skiing as things were very wet by then), then again on Sunday morning (great spring conditions).  Mostly cloudy saturday, mostly sunny all day Sunday.  Overall, great trip and everyone is up for doing it again but with bigger objectives in mind.  Score!

Small grouping of pics can be viewed here:  (soon I will get some photo resizing app so I can post pics directly - any free recommendations for Mac are welcome)

Awesome -- I love trips like this.

FYI, you can link directly to the pictures in your Picasa album -- there are more instructions in the "Photo Posting Guidelines" at the top of each month's section.  Right-click and copy the image or picture location that you want to link, then paste it into the "IMG" tags.  If you quote this post, you can see how it should look.
