For my 200th post I figured it should be a good one.

There is continuous and skinnable snow right from Cayuse Campground at 2200.  However, it doesn't last very long.  We turned around about 2 miles into this trip because the snow-dirt-snow-posthole-dirt sequence repeated itself far too many times from the start at 2200 to turn around point at 3800 (southwest aspect) which looked like this.

The snowpack was thin and urged caution here - hidden holes everywhere from tree stumps, fallen trees, or rocks - your typical joys of a clear cut with low coverage.

The Salmon La Sac road is officially closed at Cayuse Campground but people are driving past (shooting snow fingers across the road here and there melting out quickly), not sure how far.

Definitely looks like a cool tour but not something we will try again until February or March.
