Anyone been to Blewett Lately?
« on: 04/24/12, 04:12 PM »

Heading out this weekend and I was wondering whether anyone had been to Blewett lately.  Things looked good when I drove over a few weeks ago, but there has been a rather dramatic change in the weather.  Are the clearcuts and trails below Diamondhead skiable/skinable, or is it mixed conditions hiking?

Thanks for any info, and happy touring!

Skied the Tronsen Head loop Saturday.  Snow's going fast at the pass level but still lots higher up.  It had the same lack of consolidation reported at other venues farther west.  The skin up was fine but skiing down the talus slopes was a mush-fest and the road out a slog on snow that would sometimes collapse under you.  We parked at the 1st Tronsen plow-out north of the pass and could ski car-to-car.  Only a few snowmo rigs at the summit Sno-Parks, we didn't see or hear one all day.
