Saturday 4/21/12 had a great day up to Muir & skiing Nisqually Chute. On the way up at 11:45 I spotted a little speck on the Nisqually Icefall that looked out of place, like maybe it was a person. I zoomed in my point-n-shoot and fired off a few pics. We watched it for a while, as it didn’t move and high-noon seemed like an odd time to be in that spot we were convinced that the little speck was not a person. But when I got home and looked at the pictures, well, it sure looks like a person booting up with a pair of skis on the pack… that’s a serious line!

Cool shots! I think the skier would like to see them; I'll PM you his email address.

Yeah, he wasn't moving very fast at that point. He put his skis back on and started skinning right after you took these pictures. Got to 13,100, then bagged it and skied the Ingraham Direct.

Thanks. Would have been better if I hadn't lost a ski pole off my pack in the icefall and had actually finished what I started.

Still, not too bad for leaving the parking lot at 8:15 that morning.

A huge day by any standard.

The full res files are better, I'll send you a link later...

Thanks. That pic was taken not two minutes before I discovered the pole was missing: I stopped at that small crack just above me in the pic to put my skis back on and DOH!  :-[

I took a picture of the icefall on the way down and I think I can see the pole in it. Anyone want to run up and grab it for me?  ;D
