Too lazy to drive way south for a tour, and hearing that Snoqualmie Pass backcountry was very soft and a bit worrisome, I headed for Hyak after Alpental got just too sloppy to be fun skiing.  Ski penetration is improving (decreasing,) tho today there seems to have been a stampede of two legged mammals up the front face without skis or snowshoes.  Beautiful views, nice breeze, way less car time!
I saw about 30 of these critters near the switchback.  What was the story on that?

Maybe some sort of training.  The Mounties, Boealps, SAR teams, et. al. have been doing stuff up there.

Dang, Vera and I were up there until about 2:30. Missed you somehow. Frank

Eli enjoyed some of his first turns at Hyak this weekend.

There were two groups, one was a large private party doing ice ax drills, the other was our group of about 20 - we are training for a charity climb of Mt. Rainier this August to benefit Boys and Girls Club, Special Olympics, and the Food Bank.  Was a great day to be outside!
