What a difference a week and 1600 miles make.  Flew from CO to Vancouver BC to meet up with Nick for a couple days of skiing from the Elfin Shelter near Squamish, BC.  We hit an outstanding weather window all three days (one afternoon in, ski day, ski out), especially the ski day up to Little Diamond Head.  We were both concerned about crust since temps and sun had affected the snow the day we skinned in.  The next AM, there was about 2-3 inches of frozen crust on most south and west facing slopes.  So we took our time on Saturday AM and left around 9:30 AM.

Skinned north from the hut, up and over the col just west of the Gargoyles which are nearly buried in snow.  Had a great powder ski down the north side of the col to a saddle, and then skinned up the little diamond head snowfield.  Conditions kept improving as the sun did it€™s magic.

Had a great ski down and only hit maybe 30 yards of frozen crust the entire day under sunny skies and warm temps.  Nice!

There is sooo much snow at the hut€¦.  We had to walk down maybe 4 feet to the second story balcony to access the hut.  Washroom/restroom was a good 12-15 feet down below the surface€¦. Almost needed a belay.  There will be snow there for weeks to come.

I-Phone pics€¦.
