Those French Bulldogs are adorable......as are all the pups here.
My old black lab in the 80s/90s and my current golden lab love skiing.
Also pictured was my old Jackie who also loved skiing. She would always run down the skin track and didn't like the switchover......to cold.
My golden lab is getting lazy though. She falls behind on uptrack, especially when deeper knowing that she will catch up on switchover. Kinda funny.
Also can break trail. We ski Chair a lot and she knows the trail to source lake and can break with a foot of new. Gotta love that.
Finally, she is a adventurous on the way down. Last year ended up in a hole and jumped a cliff.
All in all, a great partner. Which is why we never go out together in dangerous conditions, she always must live to ski another day.

On Tuesday, a friend and I were skinning up Hyak Face and were disappointed to see dog poop littering the snow. We had to be careful to avoid the "freshies" on the way up and down. I have seen dog poop in other popular touring areas as well.
I don't like to see dogs in the mountains. They are a nuisance to wildlife and other tourers. Sorry to be a killjoy and for the thread drift, and I doubt any TAY'ers are so careless with their animals, but I thought I'd add my two cents.

I live at Hyak and it is just part of what happens when the snow melts, solids come to the surface. In the big picture it really is not that big a problem, but in your sentence "they are a nuisance to wildlife and other tourers" that kind of tells us all about how you feel about dogs in general. My dog likes to greet everyone he meets on a hike and 95% of others love to meet him too and he loves to play with the other dogs, etc. I take my dog on as many hikes as possible, he's my pal and I wouldn't deprive him or myself of this just to please the 5%, sorry.

That quote about dogs dirtying up the snow kinda makes me mad. Go make your own thread if all you want to do is complain about something and have no input on the subject.
You could have summed up your saying with, if you take a dog up in the bc, make sure to bring bags to pack out their crap. Would have been a bit more classy, just my 2 cents.

All of us dog lovers who take their dogs places always bristle at comments like the above.
I am fortunate to have a dog that is 100% voice command and do not put a leash on her unless I have to. I live in a planned community with lots of dogs and routinely take her for walks unleashed.
She will NOT approach anyone or dog for that matter unless I give her the command. If the person I am approaching acts like they want to visit my dog I will allow her to approach them, otherwise will not. Same is true with other dogs with their owners, if they want to visit I will otherwise we walk by.
I understand that not all people like dogs, and some are afraid. So I personally try and avoid mean looks from these people.
I also understand the poop thing. Us dog owners have to do our best to help out in the consideration of those who do not.
Is it not amazing how just about every subject has a detractor??
Perhaps the one subject that is not up for debate is good skiing. That is something we all can agree on.

I disagree.... I think good skiing is predictable and boring and I 'd for one like to see more bad skiing. Bad skiing is where is it is at nowadays. You people who like good skiing really make me mad. 
But seriously, as much as I disagree with Willy and his dog dislike in the BC, I respect his right to his opinion and this thread seems an appropriate place to state it.
Just because the majority of the posters feel differently...why should he take his opinion elsewhere.
The tyranny of the minority by the majority has always been a TAY problem( IMHO).
Shame on you saxybrian for your censure!

my thread my rules!
I agree there is a place for it all, but when someone is asking about how your dog does in the BC, i'd like to keep it on that topic, not that dogs in the BC suck because they crap a lot.
Just doesn't fit the bill if you ask me!
Anyways, I fly out tonight from Austin to Issaquah so Friday is my first real night in WA as a resident!
Exciting times!

Are you quite sure it was dog poop, then?
I worry more about the wildlife, reminded last Saturday when my pup, Ariel, briefly chased a still-white snowshoe hare on Tronsen Head. We yelled her off but I remembered Levi, my Thorp Prairie dog, who once so mangled a marmot on Cashmere Mtn I bashed its (marmot) brains out with a rock, followed by lots of hitting and yelling at the dog.
