A nasty east wind put 6, Northway, and the Gondy on hold for the morning. At 10:15, they were closed for the day. Only very shaded north facers escaped yesterday's sun. Aspects that got sun were frozen glop till 2:00 when they softened slightly. With limited options we tried some wind-in-the-face upper mountain runs only to retreat to forest queen. Frisco was the only run out of the sun with nice powder bumps, but a long round trip. A break in CB lodge hoping the wind would die didn't work. But on returning to Green Valley Bowl, it had gone from moonscape wind-scour to soft packed pow somehow. Banana Chute saved the day and Lower E, out of the wind, softened into an excellent bump run. If the wind dies as forecast, the very shaded north facers will be nice until the sunny aspects soften.

I didn't think it was bad at all and had great skiing all day....even skied nice pow in the BC off the backside( stay in the tree shadows  Wink). By 2 the frontside was skiing really nice and the TUBE was schmooy bumpy fun.

Pissed that Northway was closed and couldn't get to Deep North without poaching! I think when North is closed for reasons like today they should let us ski it without the risk of getting your pass pulled.

Are you the same guy that told me it was a good choice to have stayed in bed instead of heading up since the high winds relegated the good skiing to Forest Gump???
Looks like I will have to go up today after I get my TPS reports filed since the winds looked to have calmed.

If it's called common sense, why isn't it more common?

I have low standards and thought yours would be  higher....didn't want to drag you out of bed for just groomers...anyway you 50 year olds need your rest.
