These turns were fully earned and my routefinding skills sharpened. We were able to drive 4096 up to the second switchback.  We found the trail to Nela Lake, then lost it, then found it again, then lost it once more.

We were postholing past our knees in places heading up through the forest.  It wasn't feasible to start skinning until we got up around 4k.  We topped out around 6k due to looming cornices and lack of motivation to posthole our way any higher.

The top 1500' the snow was soft and deep.  Mostly survival skiing once we got in the trees as it did not warm enough as much as we would have liked.

Our journey from start to finish took 8.5 hours.

In the end, it was a great day to be out enjoying such a beautiful and unique area.

Didn't take any action photos, or very many photos at all for that matter.  Maybe if my partner sees this post he will share a few more.

Sweet way to get out on the Loop!  Bedal is a cool mountain, but those trees really do make you earn it.

So 6k, you must've made the wide open north face?  Good views from there and a pretty nice ski run, if only had the energy to do a couple laps after getting there  :)

Yes we were able to ski a good chunk of the open bowl.  We wanted to drop from the saddle just right of center in the second pic, but couldn't quite make it there skinning.  Looking at the map here we must have stopped closer to 5900'.

The snow in the bowl was oh so good with rooster tails flying.  Another lap would have been great, but it was getting late and we didn't want to have to navigate through the trees in fading daylight.  Well that and we were pooped from the ascent.    :)
