Consternation about the new forecast today for a much higher freezing level than previously predicted turned out to be unwarranted as we found some blue sky on arrival.  Definitely good snow between 3000-4300' on N and NE slopes for testing technique:  2-3" wet new atop a soft 1" corny crust laid on 10-12" wet unconsolidated two day old snow.  Keeping the skis flat and equally weighted with constant speed and smooth turns was key, other methods were punished with heavy 'face shots.'   East facing slopes in old growth trees had a firmer crust under the 3" new, slightly easier skiing.

The blue sky disappeared quickly and foggy, snowy (nearly rainy) conditions prevailed.  Around 5PM after a two hour beer and socializing break, the skies cleared and we enjoyed a couple hours of pre sunset lift skiing at Summit Central on 4-12" leftover powder in the terrain park (away from the jumps.)   What a treat!

It was a much better day than I expected and the sunset runs were a real treat.
