Did three constitutional laps at Hyak last night.  Nice skin tracks in place on the front and back although a couple folks were postholing the front track when we were heading out.  Hopefully the couple on skis after them smoothed it out.

Conditions:  Mostly crust over powder.  Seriously deep in spots.  Back side was all crust on top no matter where I "checked".  Front side was crust on skiers left and beautiful soft snow skiers right on the top half.  Bottom half was crusted over and got progressively chunkier.  Really needed the AT gear but was on the teles.

Whoever was up there earlier in the day made some beautiful tracks.  With the setting sun shadowing them they looked perfect.

Plently left to ski today before the hordes get it manana.
A friend and I did the same thing last night but a bit later than everyone else, doing the last lap by headlamp (a fun but strange way to ski!).  We found that hugging the ropeline in the trees produced great boot-top powder to soft snow almost down to the cat-track.

Seeing the stars from the top of Hyak and looking back at the orange-lit (night ski lights) Gold Creek drainage were big highlights.
