My wife and I enjoyed a beautiful 3-day tour to Haney Meadows and the slopes on the back (south) side of Tronson Head. These gentle slopes were perfect for an advanced beginner and a beginning beginner on telemark skis. I'm sure there are more accessible beginner's slopes; but much of the point was the touring, the camping, and the leaving the kids with grandparents.

We were on Madshus Annum skis without skins so we took the 7 mile approach first on road around the west side of Diamond Head and then on the skiers trail to Tronson Head. We camped about 50 yards below the ridge. Several inches of fresh snow on the ground Saturday morning gave us perfect practice conditions. On Sunday we returned to Blewett Pass more directly on the east side of Diamond Head.
Looks like the snow was fantastic. Nice trip.

Nice!  That was one of my earliest backcountry experiences with two of us camping by the Haney cabin.  Love those south slopes.  We have called them the"sunny side".  Thanks for sharing.
