Snowmobiles at Yodelin!?!
« on: 03/18/12, 05:27 PM »

We had some great skiing today, but came down off of the main tree run and discovered two snow machines grinding up and down in the open meadow skiers left of the trees. I assume its not illegal, but it was pretty disappointing. I've never even seen sled tracks up there before.

I've seen snomos as high as the lift tower foundation below/West of the old growth. Does anyone know what the rule is there?

Under the current Forest Plan if it's not wilderness or designated non-motorized snow mobile use is unregulated. This means they are allowed anywhere not prohibited.

That's what I thought. There's certainly no signage of any kind.

I'm guessing it doesn't happen much winter weekends when the lot is used by overflow parking from the resort and there isn't space for the sled trailers and their trucks.

The phat snowpack also helps a bit, just as it opens up terrain for us.
