The high pressure system moved in and we needed a powder fix. The sun was hammering the south, east and west exposed slopes but anything with a north exposure had settled powder. We drove up Big Cottonwood Canyon and about 4 miles west of Solitude we pulled into Spruces Campground to start the tour. Found a skin track heading parallel to the road that eventually headed into Mats Basin where the trail climbed through the aspens to the ridge that separates Days Fork and Silver Fork. We climbed to the ridge skiers at Solitude drool about from Honeycomb Canyon. We viewed the lines behind Fantasy Ridge, and watched/heard the "bird" from Wasatch Powderguides working on Days Fork. The sun had created breakable crust on the souh and east slopes which rolled into Honeycomb Canyon. We descended along the spine of the ridge in a northerly direction in cold powder. We descended through groves of aspen and after 2300 feet of dust we cliffed out. Watching Jill on a "veggie belay" was rather entertaining. It was a great tour and another powder day.
