Joined a hardy group for a jaunt up Smith Brook. Rain was wet.
Nigh continuous light showers, alternating snow and rain for much of the day. Wind, wet, and warmth kept tree bombs falling all day. Test pillows would fail Q1-2 at a moderate/hard hop ~18" down on 1F snow. Test slopes didn't want to move. Falling moisture permeated the upper 18" below 4k. Above 4k, a 1" denser layer of snow seemed to soak it up. No crowns observed, despite treebombage on 30-60 degree slopes. Skied treed N-facing slopes to 35-40 degrees.

yeah, not the best of days ayeh? observed around 1230 a cornice fall that triggered a loose wet slide that ran about 1000' down a steep gulley then fanned out almost to valley bottom. East facing slope off peak 5476 E of Tye Lake, D1.5 abouts.
