Crystal March 1st
« on: 03/01/12, 05:31 PM »

Today PNWBrit( Banned) and I had the pleasure of showing 5 visiting riders from Bend around our beloved Crystal( 4 telemarkers and I boarder no less).

I think showing visitors from another area all the best stashes and runs is one of the best things in skiing. Hopefully they will show me around if I ever go to Bachelor.

We had a great day full of North and Deep North runs, car shuttles , hitchhiking back to the base and hikes up the King. Tremendous conditions and they were stoked and I'm exhausted.

Yesterday's crew didn't finish the job of skiing out the mountain. Today's crew did. Lots of good, fast skiers today, but no lines on the lifts once out of the base. Shin-to-knee deep untracked turned into packed pow. A sequential lift opening moved us from Frontside to Six to Northway, with each opening adding pow as the previous area got tracked out. South opened last, but we stayed north with nearly empty slopes. Some fine leftovers for tomorrow.

Good job on showing Crystal off. I am doing just that this weekend to my older brother (the skier) and his son ( my name sake) also a very good skier. They both ski Okemo and get this, Bill is flying in on Friday night late, we will leave my house at AM, Pick up my son ( also a very good skier and former Pro P at Crystal) and show these East Coast Guys the hill, Bill then must fly back to DC that Sat. night. Now thats going for it, fly across the US to ski a few hours at Crystal. We will have time for a brew at the Elk. Classic!!!!!!

That sounds like fun! Crystal has wonderful coverage at them moment...I'm sure they'll be blown away.
The view into Crystal Lakes from the top of the King today was simply stunning...fog and sun on various aspects. Have a great time.
