Breaking trail was a sweatfest in cold windy conditions but well worth the effort. Decided to check out gunsight and ski it if it was stable which it was. The winds were swirling up there at 6300' and blowing from the west, the south west, and also the east so the face was wind affected with a foot and a half of new settling nicely on the snow from the last several days which had also settled well. The bowl was better lower down and the tree skiing was the best as it was sheltered from the wind. Skied down to hwy 12 at the end of the day and the snow there was also very nice and deep with the creek beds filled in for a run all the way down without any bad spots. As long as the snow stays with cold temps it should be ok for a while. A great new thing about touring from wp now is the new lodge which gives a kind of Euro style to it as you can hike out in the morning and ski then head back for lunch and drinks then back out again for the afternoon session, very civilized.
