After missing my party in the morning, I decided to go for a quick jaunt to Mt Catherine. It had eluded me a couple of times in the past. It's a surprisingly nice tour as Martin says, with a little bit of everything--except views today. Sunny at the top but every other peak around was wrapped in clouds. Variable snow: 1 to 4 inches of powder on hard crust: quite nice above 4000; spring-like below 4k; skied well; crust generally no problem. I skinned up the N side and was glad I'd brought crampons. N
Haven't been back there since before Xmas. How is the 'fill in' on logs and creeks?

Follow the randonnee track after it veers south from the nordic track (shortly after the power line): that may be the only good place to cross Mill Creek on a solid snow bridge (elsewhere you get high snow banks and open water). No downed timber in the woods. N
