Had a nice day of skiing in a classic Eastern Washington dry site forest.  We did not know how the snow would be, but as luck would have it was very nice most of the way.  It is a fairly long  approach up a system of logging roads before starting the "skiing" portion of the trip.  We made our way up an open ridge that provided spectacular views of the Cascades in all directions.  The aspect of the rout was primary southerly, but the snow held up very well, the sun gave it just enough body to hide the scratchy crust  underneath.  Our decent went much faster than we thought it would, and we were back on the road wondering where all the fun went before we knew it.  The glide out on the road was not bad until we descended into the cooler conditions near the valley bottom, and the track was refrozen cement.  As a bonus we ran into a friend who was working, so we could crow about our great day of playing.
