Whoa! about the stiffest new snow Ive ever skied. 18" which a lot of it came down at 27 *
Some wind pack on sw facing and ridges
Road was "tweeted to" open at 10 am then 11 then 1130 finally at 1230 we passed the gate.
They said a plow broke down .
I should have known better with 18" We stayed close with low visibility and skied ALta vista and lower Edith basin. Don't go expecting powder at the lower elevations.

Stiff is right! The trail breaking was arduous and the visibility was marginal, but it was cool to be only one of three cars in the parking lot. Met up with TAYers Katrina and Tyler shortly after leaving the parking lot, mostly ran laps on Mazama. A few uninspiring photos for posterity:

Yeah, when they tweeted the noon opening we bailed and decided to do a ski patrol day on MTTA; had to backpack my skis in a ways--and then found my new speed radicals had been mounted by the shop to fit some midget's feet, not mine; no way could the work; so back down with skis on pack. Oh well. Remount scheduled for Thurs.
Oh, BTW, we hit some pretty good snow on geezer ridge today :-).
