No Country for Old Telemarkers!
Ellen & I had a short window of time, and a taste for adventure, so instead of driving up to Hyak, we hopped off to try and make it to Lake Annette. No dice, yes ice. Under the trees at that elevation, there was a very thin layer of powder on a hard crust. She walked up on snowshoes, and I walked up in the Drifters. We had to turn around about a mile from the lake, and then the torture began. Scratchy side slipping, luge running practice on skis that barely fit in a snowshoe track. Yikes! I spent most of the downward track skidding down on the side slope above the trail.

We did have a nice time hiking in the snowy woods, though. And where it was open along the power line, I had some very nice laps, although short, and low angle.
