Skied the south slopes of snoqualmie today. Stopped around 5,000 ft below the standard route to the slot.

A little earlier, I aborted my idea to head up on the SE ridge after kicking a 5-7' wide soft slab about 3-5" thick. Located in a small concave feature below a 20+ ft cliff facing S at 4800 ft. I Didn't measure the slope, but it was probably right around 38-42 degrees. It definitely popped out with some energy, but turned into sluff once it hit some trees below.

My boots were embedded in the crust, so it didn't move me at all.

Snow was blower, but skis were riding on the crust most of the time.
Thanks for the heads up Leyland.  I had a friend report some pretty reactive layers on that same crust at Stevens today.

Thanks Leyland.

Kinda bummed I missed a good bail day.

Went up today. It's getting deeper! By the time I left it was about a foot (variable). Depended where you were. Stability seemed pretty good on south facing slopes. Popped around to a north facing slope. Saturdays snow is a thin slab, with todays snow on it. We chose to not ski it.
