Crystal - 01/06

Bonus day, expected less nice snow conditions and bigger crowds, but luckily there was a extra overnight dusting of new and the crowds didn’t show up plus it was sunny most of the morning. Bounced around from Campbell Basin through PB/BP’s (many many times), to Doors 1 and 2 and Sunnyside and M-World. All smooth with the new. Firm under the new on the sunny slopes, but actually getting better on the north facing slopes. Heard big things about North and South - didnt get/have to do either one - so sad, sort of. Nice day all in all had the typical lots of fun. Pay lot was big this morning and had a lot of empty space when I left. Cars in B and C. ddk

Today did feel like a bonus day. Excellent skiing on the north facers. We spent the day poking around and found lots of good snow in the shade and on top of the ice in the sun. Poked a little farther north and south than ddk. Throne Chutes were well worth the short hike for blown in untracked. Powder Bowl still holds good snow. Green Valley Bowl great, Grubstake entry to Snorting Elk Bowl was awesome. Northway Bowl trees, Finger Chute, Penny Dawg's right all great boot top new in the trees. Iceberg and Lower Northway pretty icy. A great job grooming made the run outs and returns for Powder Bowl round trips fast and easy (very light crowds helped too). Oh, mostly sunny skies today really helped pump up the fun-o-meter. Fog moved in around 1:00 from the south and we kept one run ahead of it for the last round south to north. The sunny aspects, Frontside, will be great if sunday's rising snow level doesn't get rained on.
