I got there a little before noon and the temp was being turned up rapidly. Strong warm winds and unobstructed sun were cooking the slopes. The resort was still closed so I took the opportunity to explore that area and stay in the shade. The snow was heavy but pretty easy to turn and still a lot of fun. Steeper pitches sent pinwheels down but I didn't see any wet slides developing where I was. Some snowboarders that I gave a ride down the hill to said the sunny aspects down to the road were sticky and they had got stopped by it in places. It was another great day up there. The great visibility and friendly people more than made up for the heavy conditions.
Happy New Years, Ron. You seem to have the NE matra well in hand: Challanging Snow is better than No Snow. And twice as good on Sundays.
Hey man, happy new year to you too! It's all good as they say... ... but some of it is better.
