February 7, 2005, Kendal Lakes Area

Like the few other brave souls that have gotten out and posted I've been out touring just for the exercise.  I went up the Kendal Road to the Kendal Lakes area yesterday after work.  I even went on my new skis risking a core shot.  The road makes for some of the best skiing around this year. Sad!  But I was surprised by the coverage up above 4,000-ft and even found a few nice lines to ski where I know the primary ground surface is grassy.  Came down through some of the trees too with minimal weed wacking.  I keep telling myself if this were New England conditions would be epic right now.  There is about 1-ft plus of fresh light low density pow up high.  It's too bad there isn't much base under it or conditions would truely be epic.  Gonna hit it again today and planning on exploring farther afield this weekend in search of stashes.  At least its been real pretty with blue skies and snow on the trees.  Pray hard until your eyes pop out for snow!
