december 26 hurricane ridge

The phone recording said the road would open at 10:00 but it was already open when I got to the gate at 9:50.  I skied the open glades between the intermediate tow and the near face down to the ski patrol shack...was very nice 10-12 inches of wind accumulated snow which skied very easily. I avoided the steepness below the poma lift and trended twards switchback trail where I encountered whomping snowpack settlement which gave me pause to think...but then noticed a couple of boot trackers returning back up the hill...I hoped the snowpack was ok for them...waited and they came up ok...so I picked my way thru...second run felt better...the rangers were spreading the word amongst the snowboarders (who had built a jump onto the area I encountered the whumping) that the road would close early at 2:30...so one more run on the top half back to the patol shack to finnish a short but nice day
