Ski Free 2012 Program was created by Zap
Here's the link to the new Ski Free program for 2012.

skifreedeals.com/

The program starts on January 1, 2012.  The details will supposedly be posted by January 1.  If you follow their Facebook link you'll see the Bad news for 2012.

Here's a brief summary from what was mentioned at Facebook.
No ski areas are participating in WA and Whistler is not participating.

Here's who is participating by states:
OR:  Anthony Lakes, Mt. Ashland, Mt. Hood Meadows, Mt. Hood Ski Bowl, Timberline, Hoodoo,     Willamette Pass

CA: Squaw Valley, Kirkwood, Homewood, China Peak, Mt. Shasta

CO:  Monarch Pass, Loveland, Winter Park, Crested Butte, Sunlight

That's very disappointing.  No WA, ID, MT, WY or BC participation.  Major bummer. In the past I've averaged 4-6 tix per season.  >:(

I'm not surprised. It's no secret that people were abusing the situation in a grey market type scenario. I did a trip a few seasons back where we did the Whistler, Sun Peaks, Big White, Silver Star route and people were selling the vouchers. (The ski free vouchers were valid in BC but not available in BC.)

I'm not certain on the ethics involved, but I often would pair with a random dude in the ticket train, and split the face value...It's a far shout from scalpin' the damn things though...

It's a world class ski spot, that is not to be contested, but I will have a hard time ponying up the full face unless a big dumper comes through....

Sad to see the 2-for-1 deal at Whistler gone, I had always thought it was too good to be true. The only better deal was back when they worked for night skiing at Alpental on race nights.

That said the advance-sale one-day Edge Card rate at Whistler this year is $72, just a couple bucks more than a day at Crystal.

No ethics problem here.  It's  "two for the price of one", sharing it is fine, selling it is not.
I've solicited the ticket line to split a two for one, and see no issue with this.  Struck up good conversations with those who have accepted, and the mt gets two people on the hill spending money for the day.
Some people will look you up and down sceptically thinking you're trying to take advantage somehow. I suppose that's just a sign of the times, or the fact that they notice I'm wearing telemark boots.
???

The couple times I've done this, I've noticed that most people arriving have passes or pre-purchased tickets.
I have had someone approach me in line and ask if they could cut in line with me, and get their free ticket when I buy mine...  Yeah, right!
