November 30, 2011, East Peak

The office called, but the prediction of 6-10” of new snow and Splitboard Graham’s 11-25-2011 post called louder.

We skied southeast from East Peak in the Crystal Mountain area, and above about 5,500’ found 6-8” of new snow over a firm crust with some breakable.  The west-facing slope we climbed to East Peak had 1-2” of new snow, the difference probably due to wind transport.  During the climb of this slope we used our ski crampons.  Mostly sunny skies with occasional swirling ridgetop clouds.  Overall, good skiing and a great day to be outside.
