Course schedule is as follows:

First night classroom 12/15 6:00 till 9:30 meeting place TBD

Day 3 field day 9:00 till 2:00 in the field followed up by class assessment and wrap up

The head instructor, Niko Weis, is one of the outstanding avalanche instructors in North America with over 25 years of avalanche safety experience. His background includes being the Ski Patrol Director at Mount Washington on Vancouver Island and an eight year stint on the Canadian Avalanche Association Board of Directors, during a period where the Canadians far outpaced other countries’ avalanche forecasting.
Weis has taught avalanche classes for many years for the HRWSC, Olympic National Park, and Olympic Mountain Rescue and is intimately familiar with the terrain and snow conditions at Hurricane Ridge. Please see his website;  www.niko.ca

This sounds like a great opp., but since that is our 30th wedding anniversary and we've already booked 2 nights in Victoria, I predict extreme hazard of an avalanche of spousal wrath if I change plans.   ::)
I recommend the Toadlily House- very casual, and friendly.  Comfy mini-hostel. Just a few blocks west of Race St., the road up to Hurricane Ridge.  They just opened for business so it won't be crowded.
Rates are $25-45/night.     toadlilyhouse.com/index.php/home

Best wishes and thanks for setting this up.

Thanks to the out of town TAY members who made the trek to Port Angeles, you helped make this successful and interesting course.
Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend.
