6-8" soft snow on a firm base 3-4000', then 12-16" 4-5000'.  Hero snow in west facing old growth. Too breezy for the old guy above 5200'.

Which old guy did you have with you?

Thanks for the info Silas.

My two cents on my first trip on this route. The open areas, which were relatively few until we reached the top bench at 5K+ feet, were deep and nice. The tightly treed steeper areas, which were relatively plentiful, were err ah not my idea of hero snow.

I took the descent cautiously to avoid shoving a ski under a tree trunk or similar, but still managed to hook a tip on some damned little sapling under a swath of icicles and above one of the many mini cliffs to lookers left of Phantom. Walked out of a dynafit, and found head downhill looking over said mini cliff, ass uphill. The required U turn took a while to execute, but I eventually caught up with old man Silas near the bottom.

Nice - I was thinking about heading up there but instead continued out towards source lake. Skied the Big Tree and No fog areas and found bountiful amounts of face shots and soft snow.
