Working on my book project, I've been listening to some interviews that I did a few years ago, making notes, and pulling quotes. I finished notes about a chat with Ed LaChapelle in 2001, which you can read here:

www.alpenglow.org/ski-history/notes/comm/lachapelle-ed.html
Since the skiing is poor right now, you might enjoy passing the time with a little reading. Ed has had a remarkable career and has contributed to skiing in the Northwest in some surprising ways. He's been something of a hero for me since I attended a class he taught at U.W. in the mid-70s.
