Forecast looked good for corn on nice south facing Muir Snowfield.  Turns out Ma Nature had other plans, she had cooked a tasty cardboard crust since Tuesday and had the breeze broom out today. We bailed over to the Paradise around 8100' in search of better snow and wind shelter.  Neither was found. Photos unnecessary.

Lotsa other TAYers were out today.  Hope they were smarter than this geezer and his sitters, I'd like to see photos of their better findings.
The snowfield proper was pretty good below about 9k, though it was very windy there as well. Nice soft snow, if slightly sun and/or wind-effected. Above 9k there were large patches of ice. I suspect others will post photos.

"Got two laps on Muir but possibly the best turns I've had this season."

One man's trash is another's treasure?  :)

Here's a shot on the approach to the Muir snowfield at 10:00 AM this morning, roughly 1000 vertical feet above Paradise; the glint off the crust kind of speaks for itself. As others said, better higher up though.

???
It wasn't powder and it wasn't corn but it was one of those days it was good to be on a snowboard  ;)

Nice save Kyle! ;D
Glad you had fun. :)

Hell, I said I skied Liberty Ridge on Facebook.  ;D

every now and then I harbour secret desire's to get back to my snowboarding origins....
nice to meet you yesterday Kyle! -
would have been nice on the board ;-)

Fun times up there. Love getting up late, getting a good climb in and some turns at sunset! It was great meeting everyone.

I stopped for a couple pics and thought I'd share them.

Had some fun up there as well.

Got one lap of the good stuff (breakable crust and some windblown freshies). Returned to the car just before dark and rising full moon.

Sunshine, clear skies and wind= not a bad day.

Jason, Holly et al & Kyle/Amar et al good to run into you.

@Jas- who's in your photos? those turned out well.

uh, Jason, your photography is getting scary good.

These pictures are amazing, hopefully we'll see more like them?
