Bluebird, no wind, from the car skinning start today at Paradise. As we gained elevation the wind gained speed and the skies gained puffy clouds. Our senior member was too cold to proceed above 8800', so we all crossed over to the Paradise Glacier, leaving the White Pass hardmen and woman group to continue up the Muir Snowfield.
As frequently occurs in these conditions, the skies were more clear and snow softer on the Paradise. So fun skiing 6-8" settled powder with little wind affect, we headed back up for a second run. Skiing was possible all the way back to the cars via Mazama Ridge and the crossover to Paradise. Short daylight made for stunning scenery and shadows.

Big thanks to the "White crew" for letting me tag along. They did reap the benefit of chocolate & hot tea in the hut for their generosity. Pretty spectacular day for a first time on Rainier, even got a self portrait drinking a rainier on Rainier. Great day except for the one whiner that kept complaining about his boot not going into ski mode :) .

Not all of us were smart enough to head to the leward side. From Muir we found hard snow, then mixed, then great powder from 9k ft down to Pebble Cr. Fairly boney below Pebble Cr. "Discovered" a wide trail on the E side of Alta Vista, it was fun to ski accross an aspect I usually avoid because of avy concerns.
Another day in Paradise, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it may be my last for a bit.

Really fun day out. We had quite a party in the muir hut - thanks to the six pack of rainier tall boys that I distributed in the parking lot. Nice meething everyone!
