November 6, 2011, Baker: Heliotrope and Coleman

Although I'm not sure we need another trip report extolling the excellence of the Coleman Glacier and Heliotrope Ridge on Baker this weekend; I thought I'd throw my two cents in. Gus, Keith and I made a couple of laps on Sunday afternoon. It seems we weren't the only ones with those plans. We encountered more traffic on the skin track than we did driving up I-5 from Seattle at 6 AM. Even though the glacier was beginning to resemble the backside of Stevens Pass at 9:30 AM on a powder day, we were still able to get some freshies and spray around a healthy amount of blower. The conditions were drastically different than when we last skied Baker two weeks ago (link: http://www.explosion5000.com/2011/10/skiing-mount-baker-blood-ice.html). Needless to say, we were all smiles on the way down the Hogsback yesterday.

Must have been an imposer....I'd have never skied anywhere there was more than 5 TAYers with their rescue sleds. ;)
Yeah Robie that was my subie sorry I missed you. By the time I hiked down the trail it was one slippery mother. and the road down was a mess cars and trucks in the ditch everywhere. Good skiing in the sun though hard to complain about that.
I saw the slippery trail out coming so I wore my aluminum crampons all the way down . One of my partners tripped and fell 3 times. Road was hairy for sure .Geezer bones don't like falls
Nice photos. The dogs photos is of our group. Here are my photos from the weekend...
