Nov 5, 2011, Ptarmigan Ridge. Go get it.

Not wanting to make the long trek up to Heliotrope Ridge again, my wife and I ventured out to Ptarmigan Ridge.  I was amazed to see a single skin track made by only one or two people, the place was pretty much untouched.  The snow from the storm Wed night was still very good, 6-8" of powder with a little hoar frost on top.  There were no sun effects on north facing terrain but anything facing the south had a hearty sun crust. There isn't much skiable south facing terrain anyway right now. The snow should still be in good shape tomorrow too as it was still great when we left around 3:00PM.  Only 8 people ventured out there today so there is plenty left to ski.  Pick your lines wisely and stick to the summer snow unless you enjoy the feeling of rocks scraping your bases.  Finally, anything below artist point is pretty tracked out.
