Three of us braved unexpected sunshine in search of nonexistent powder in Spray Park. Smooth and very supportable icy crust prevailed on all aspects, even where drifting was expected. Crust softened slightly near the Russel crossover and with solar effects, but remained a slippery hazard. Much less snow than earlier in the month; coverage is like August in a normal year. Flett Headwall is windraked mostly to grey old snow.

Skiing was jet-engine loud and scary;  one of our group took a spooky ride into rime-covered talus ... fortunately emerged mostly ok.

Crampons useful for moving both up and downhill.

Beautiful day, unforgiving snow. So glad all three of us came home.
That sounds scary.  Was Jtack one of your group?

No Jtack - just David, Susan, and Charlie.

Susan borrowed my camera, so I'm borrowing two images from the SD card. If winters' snows don't bond well to this crust, it's going to make a great bed surface. Note shiny snow!
