14 degrees F at cabin creek parking lot. Road groomed and track set all the way to the summit on both the main road and on the return loop. The grooming doesn't quite connect on top -- but only about 200 yds separate the groomed sections. Had a good view of Chimney Rock, Hinman and Daniel at the lunch stop, but soon clouds and snow moved in and googles were needed skiing the road down. Encountered some snow machines near the top -- looks like they had come up the Kachess lake side roads -- anybody got a backhoe I can borrow?
I suppose all that groomed snow is now either washed away or covered in an inch of ice >:(

I never knew that they groomed the trail to the top! do you know how often that may occur??
The grooming was something I've rarely seen before -- I'm speculating that it might have something to do with the low-snowpack this season and the fact that the Gunnar Hagen race was being held on Sunday. While the course for this race normally uses the cabin creek loops -- perhaps they groomed the Amabalis Mtn road as a backup plan in case of a big melt before the race. Whether it gets groomed again this season (or even if there is snow to groom) remains to be seen.
