I don't know when the obsession started with skiing Baker. I guess what helps is that it's less than a two hour drive from North Vancouver, there's always snow, you can see it from anywhere in the lower mainland, and it's the only peak around,over 10000 feet.It's like your favorite rock climb or mountain bike ride, when the conditions are right you gotta hit it.
It also helped that there was a skin track and the weather was perfect bluebird.We wore short sleeve t-shirts on the headwall and the snow was velvet corn all the way to the moraine.
